James Wilson Hoskins

James Wilson Hoskins

James Wilson Hoskins, son of Thomas Hoskins and Samantha Wilson Hoskins, was born the 6th of March, 1869 in Hardin County, Iowa.  He was named for his mother's father, James Wilson.  His mother passed away when he was 7 years old and he spent some time living with various relatives throughout his growing up years.  He married Etta Jane Windecker in 1896, she was 20 years old and he was 27 years old.  Their first child, George Leroy Hoskins, was born in 1898 and died the same year.  Their second son, Harry Gordon Hoskins was born in 1900 and did survive to adulthood.   Their third child, a girl, was born and died in 1902 and Etta Jane died the same year.  Quite a bit of tragedy before James Wilson was 34 years old!

James Wilson Hoskins was sometimes known as Jim and he was also known as Wilse.   In 1909 Wilse's brother William Hoskins passed away, leaving a young son and a wife, Catherine Hoskins.  Wilse and Catherine married in 1911 in Bear Lake county, Idaho, and spent the rest of their lives together.  Catherine passed away in 1954 and Wilse passed away in 1959.  Both are buried in the Montpelier cemetery.
