Esther Martin Thomas

 

Esther is one of the younger siblings of my great-grandmother Hoskins.  She was born in 1879 in Samaria, Idaho.  She married David Phillip Thomas in Pocatello in 1897 - she was not quite 18 years old.  David and Esther became the parents of two sons, the first child, John Rees Thomas, passed away at age 4.  The second son, David Kenneth Thomas, was born in Montpelier, lived to the age of 84 and is buried in Grove City Cemetery, Blackfoot.  Esther passed away when she was only 33 years old and is buried in the Samaria cemetery.  An interesting note - Esther passed away in June of 1912, and in November of 1912, Esther's husband, David, remarried.  That's not really remarkable, but he married Anna Davis, Esther's niece.  Anna is the oldest daughter of Mary Ann Martin Davis - Esther's sister.  Together David and Anna had 5 children.  Nothing wrong with keeping it in the family!
